The Teach to Travel Experience is a lot of work! It's a challenging adventure that will prepare you to teach at home or abroad. Between classes, village life is a lot of fun. Visiting with village families, playing games with students at the school, and other snapshots of village life fill up your days with fun and adventure.
On the weekends, you'll have time to experience the best that Chiang Mai has to offer. One of our favorite activities in exploring the famous street markets, or "walking markets", of Chiang Mai. These weekend markets are an amazing place to shop for souvenirs, try local foods, experience music and performances, and immerse yourself in bustling city life. How about a fresh pad Thai and a tropical ice cream while you check out handmade paintings of elephants? Or shopping for jade bracelets while you drink from a fresh coconut? Miles of street markets and Night Bazaars give you the chance to explore and enjoy.
You'll tour the city and get to see all the most famous and important temples and monuments of Chiang Mai, but we don't stop there. We'll also take you to the top of Doi Suthep, a jungle mountain in the city crowned with a golden temple complex overlooking the buildings below. You'll have a chance to explore Chiang Mai through the eyes of a local guide, from tasting bugs in the city market (if you dare!) to meditating with monks to swimming in a mountain waterfall. You can't help but fall in love with this ancient city.
But we have time to leave the city as well! You'll have a chance to zipline the longest zipline course in Southeast Asia, which takes you on over thirty ziplines through the rainforest amidst spectacular mountain views. It's a wild day!
You'll also be able to visit the Elephant Nature Park, where over sixty rescued elephants live on a peaceful sanctuary. You'll have the chance to feed them, take them to the river to bathe, learn their stories, and watch them roam over the sanctuary in their family herds. This is a truly special place, so be sure to bring your camera and be ready to make lots of great memories!
